Advanced Usage
JetKVM Mini recovery
Recovery writes the latest firmware to the Mini over USB. Use it when the Mini doesn't start, or is stuck before it shows an IP address. Your settings and the images on the microSD card are kept.
You need a computer and a USB-C cable that carries data, not only power.
Download the recovery image
Pick the image for your model. JetKVM Mini W is the Wi-Fi model, with no Ethernet port.
Connect the Mini to your computer
- Unplug the Mini from the target computer.
- Connect the Mini's general-purpose USB-C port, marked EXT, to your computer. It powers the Mini at the same time.
Flash the image
Espressif's web flasher works in Chrome and Edge, with nothing to install.
- Open the Espressif web flasher.
- Click Connect and pick the Mini's port, usually named USB JTAG/serial debug unit.
- Set Flash Address to
0x0and choose the.binfrom step 1. - Click Program and wait until it's finished.
Install Espressif's esptool with Python, then write the image from the folder you downloaded it to. esptool finds the Mini on its own.
pip install esptoolesptool --chip esp32p4 write-flash 0x0 jetkvm-mini-full.binRestart the Mini
- Unplug the cable and plug the Mini back into the target computer.
- Wait for the display to show the IP address. Recovery is complete.
Start over with no settings
To erase the settings and the Mini's internal storage too, erase the flash before step 3: click Erase Flash in the web flasher, or run esptool --chip esp32p4 erase-flash. Then flash the image as usual, and set the Mini up again. Images on the microSD card are still kept.
