Home Assistant
JetKVM adds itself to Home Assistant over MQTT. See whether it's online and has a picture, then reboot it, mount an image or press a PC's power button from your automations.
What you need
Connect JetKVM
- In JetKVM's web interface, open Settings, then MQTT.
- Turn on Enable MQTT.
- In Broker Address, enter your broker's IP address or hostname. With the Mosquitto add-on, that's Home Assistant's address.
- Leave Port on Auto. It uses 1883, or 8883 with Use TLS.
- Under Authentication, enter your broker's Username and Password.
- Click Test Connection, then Save & Reconnect.
Find JetKVM in Home Assistant
Open Settings, Devices & services, MQTT. JetKVM is listed by its device ID.
| Entity | Shows |
|---|---|
| Online | JetKVM is connected to the broker. |
| Video Signal | The computer sends a picture. |
| USB Connected | The computer sees JetKVM as a keyboard and mouse. |
| Active Sessions | How many people have JetKVM open. |
| Cloud Connected | JetKVM is connected to JetKVM Cloud. |
| Virtual Media | The mounted image. |
| Mouse Jiggler | Whether the jiggler is on. |
| Firmware | Available updates. |
IP address, hostname, video resolution and storage start disabled. Turn them on from the device page.
Extensions
The ATX extension adds ATX Power LED and ATX HDD LED. The DC extension adds DC Voltage, DC Current, DC Power and, if supported, Restore on Power Loss.
Control JetKVM from Home Assistant
Turn on Remote Control, then click Save & Reconnect. Home Assistant can then:
- reboot JetKVM;
- mount or unmount an image from JetKVM's storage;
- turn the mouse jiggler on and off;
- install firmware updates;
- with the ATX extension, press power (short or long) and reset;
- with the DC extension, switch power on and off.
So can anyone who can publish to your broker. Keep it behind a username and password.
Other MQTT platforms
JetKVM publishes JSON under jetkvm/<device ID>/, such as jetkvm/<device ID>/status. For another prefix, set Base Topic to Custom; the device ID is still added. The discovery messages under homeassistant/ list every topic. Without Home Assistant, turn off Auto-Discovery.
Troubleshooting
Authentication failed
The username or password is wrong. With the Mosquitto add-on, use a Home Assistant user or one from the add-on's configuration.
Connection refused or Broker not found
Check Broker Address, Port and that the broker is running.
Connection timed out
JetKVM can't reach the broker. Check they're on the same network and no firewall blocks the port.
TLS error
Check the port uses TLS. For a self-signed certificate, turn on Skip Certificate Verification.
JetKVM isn't in Home Assistant
Check the status shows Connected, Auto-Discovery is on, and Home Assistant uses the same broker.
